Museum Wall Painting
Returning to Northampton from Westport, MA, where I gave a presentation last night, we stopped about halfway home at the Worcester Art Museum (WAM).
This is a huge mural by Charline von Heyl, the latest in the Museum's "Wall at WAM" series. It's in an interior courtyard, and with its vivid color it is immensely striking from all sides. You'll find more information here.
The WAM is a superb regional art museum--I would call it small to medium-sized; for me the Dutch 17th century paintings are a highlight. But the collections range far beyond that. It's perhaps 50 miles from Boston, just off the Mass Turnpike on the way from New York--absolutely worth a stop (we had a good lunch at the cafe/restaurant).
It's a painting UP on the wall, for this week's challenge!
