Connection

I can't begin to thank you for all the lovely comments posted on my 200th blip yesterday. Quite overwhelming. I think I've responded to them all but please accept my thanks if I've missed you!

Not for the first time I felt very connected to the blip community yesterday. Then in the evening a friend (who has little patience with anything digital) claimed that it wasn't possible to connect with people whom one has not met face to face. I beg to differ; but the challenge left a question in my mind.

Do I find it easier to connect with people who I don't have to look in the eye? And (sub-question) is this a failing on my part?

Maybe. I'm far from perfect, as the conversation went on to demonstrate. But whatever it says about me, the community here is real, often has an integrity lacking in casual face to face encounters, and is something which I'm deeply grateful for.
