Starry Eyed Surprise

By bellerock

I'm watching you.....

Well that was a long week.

Who'd of thought that a 5 day working week could be so tiring? I think I've lost my stamina with all these long weekends recently.

I was still a little subdued today, and not really up for any interaction. I did my best to put on a smile, and try to act happy around the kids, but I'm not sure anyone was convinced.

Just in case I was making anyone feel uncomfortable, I went out at lunchtime. When I returned to school, instead of sitting in the Staffroom chatting, I went back to the desk to sort out the afternoon's activities.

On our walk tonight around Crombie, lots of the rhododendrons were in full flower. You could hear the bees and wasps humming before you actually got anywhere near. I did take a few shots of the flowers and I was thinking of using one of them as a tribute to Molly, however I think I'll wait until I get the right flower shot before I do that.

This is the cob I risked life and limb to take pictures of this evening. He was very protective of the area around the nest and glided very fast towards me at the water's edge to make sure I wasn't about to try anything.

I was able to gradually creep closer and closer to him as he began to lose interest in me.
I was in a pretty good position to get a nice close up of him, when somebody who will remain nameless, dropped a cone into the water beside which made a large 'plop' and renewed his interest in me. I ended up having to make a very hasty retreat.

They can break your arm you know!

Postscript

Molly's funeral is tomorrow at 10.30, my thoughts are with Mark and the family.
