Aunt Mary's House, Culkein

This is where I spent my summers with my family when I was a child.

I return with my brother and his family and we sit looking at this house and shed and reminisce.

"Aunt" Mary and "Uncle" Jill lived here. Mary ran the Post Office across the road and every summer she and Jill would move there to allow us to stay in her house. She cooked the most fantastic meals which we ate ravenously when returning home from a day tramping the heather, fishing and playing on the beach.

Mary taught me to milk a cow in the shed. It was not the most pleasant skill I ever learned, but I loved having that special time with her. She was such a warm and cuddly lady and the best summer holiday cook ever!

This house holds more memories for me even than the houses that I lived in, in Greenock.

Very happy times.
