Berliner Sonntag
The night life is incredible.. I stayed out until 5:00 am last night, and I've gone out 3 out of the last 4 nights. I have a feeling that pace might slow down starting after this week, though.
So what's up with the transit strike? All last week the BVG was striking, so there was no U-Bahn, Bus, or Tram service... and starting this monday, DB is striking as well. The entire transportation infrastructure is basically shut down. It's kind of good, because I have to explore the city by foot.. but it's also kind of lame, because I probably walked about 40 miles last week and my legs are very tired. Also, I spent 50.50E on a transit pass for the month of March and there's no way it's going to be worth it by the end of the strike.
Today I met up with some people at the flea market at Mauerpark. The park is really, really cool because it's entirely within what used to be the No Man's Land between the Berlin Wall(s). Now, it's a hip and trendy area where lots of young hipsters and indie kids gather on the weekends to shop/smoke/talk/hang out. The wall in this picture is an actual leftover section and it gets covered in new coats of graffiti weekly.
