An English country church
Bishop Wilton, East Yorkshire.
This is a bit picture-postcardy, but it's a special place at a special time of the year. This is St. Edith's parish church seen from behind on the Worsendale Road. This is where Wifie and I were married in May in 1997. It's the time of peak flowering for the cow parsley shown in the foreground, and the year we were married it was particularly plentiful on the green along both sides of the chalk stream that runs through the village. The green has been mown a bit zealously this last few years, and the cow parsley is making less of a show.
BW is Wifie's home village where generations of her family have lived. One of her brothers farms there, another lives in the village.
We travelled over to BW on Friday afternoon, a weekend with family. I got up early to get the benefit of the bright morning before the cloud rolled in later in the day.
Apologies that I am a day behind and even further behind with comments. Thanks for bearing with me.
ps The spire is straight despite appearing to have a bit of a lean, an optical illusion I guess because of the slant of the foreground fence.
