Rocky's gift ....
When I phone Sav this morning about todays travel arrangements ( see 2 back blips I've just posted for the Hen Party weekend in Devon ) he informed we we'd got an orphan. Not strictly true as it's parents are alive somewhere, but our neighbours cat had seperated it from them.
Our lovely neighbours Ellie and Oggy are not too keen on the gift's Rocky brings them and usually enlist our help - hence early this morning Sav found Oggy dressed only in boxer shorts frantically knocking on the door with the stricken baby blackbird in his hands! When later questioned by Ellie as to why he hadn't at least thrown on a T-shirt, he said " I just paniced! ".
Sav has been doing a good job hunting out worms and leather jackets for it, but when we inspected it after it had recovered abit, I noticed it had a broken leg, so we rang the local wildlife rescue centre and they asked us to drop it off at one of their local volunteers houses, from where it would be collected and taken to the clinic tomorrow.
The lady in question let us have a look at her current charges - baby rabbits, a baby squirrel, a bat and lots of baby birds. She even had a whole nest of tiny baby blue tits ( 10 of them ), who all jumped up and started demanding feeding as soon as she opened the lid of the box they were in! Cutest little teeny tiny babies ever! ( Well, until the next ones! ).
Hope you've all had a good weekend and have recharged your batteries ready for the new week.
