Farewell To This Land's Cheerless Marshes.
Despite being earmarked for development as student flats as far back as 2008, Shrubhill House sticks out like a partially-demolished sore thumb next to the equally barren Lothian Region Transport depot; it's even got an entry in the collection of The Royal Commission on the Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland - the building's only use for the time being appears to be an ersatz sketchbook and gallery for local graffitti artists.
Now it seems to be a monument to the recession, the stagnation of certain plans of urban regeneration in the city; now to some it seems this derelict concrete eyesore is a cenotaph for all the big-talking and ultimately hollow ideals of the current Prime Minister and perhaps the newly-elected Scottish Government.
Maybe it's being listed and saved for the nation. God, I hope not.
