A Fahrenheit Life

Chives

Been up to Stirling today and back and still posting shots from the garden. At least today there's a story to be told..

As a young girl, one of my dear Dad's favourite meals was boiled Ayrshire potatoes, mashed with lashings of butter, full cream milk and plenty of salt, topped with spring onions and chives. This maginificent dish he grandly called 'Champs' - in order to entice the non-compliant offspring to eat, I surmise.

Anyway, a recent viewing of Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall encouraged us to eat the flowers as well as the stalks. Not tried that one yet (or munching on the resident, what it is, a hornet?) and not sure what Dad would have thought of this suggestion!
