Fruity
We've been playing with the fabric fruit and veg (and breakfast stuff) that we bought from that blue and yellow giant yesterday. Ben's been learning the names of things pretty well. The only thing that's missing is broccoli, in my opinion!
I've been trying to build one of the things we bought. Seriously, all it needs is a hammer. It's a "bash it together" thing. No screws or nails or anything.
And could I put it together? No! I'm not strong enough!!! That's just plain unfair.
Ben went to preschool this morning. Amazingly we managed to get up and dressed and fed in time and weren't even late. He didn't even want to go into the carpark though :( I though I was in for a dreadful drop-off at that point... But, he went in on cuddle power, and once inside found his name and stuck it on his flower. Then I stayed for a bit while he started playing with some other kids and Kathy his keyworker, climbing on this obstacle course type thing. Once he'd discovered he could do it all by himself and didn't need to hold my hand his confidence started coming back. Then he started chatting to a little girl. Then I decided it was time to give going a try so I told him I was going, and he came over for a cuddle but didn't want me to leave. So I told him to show Kathy his plaster (he cut his hand at Ikea yesterday, and so in the evening we cleaned him up properly and put a plaster on and he's been showing everybody this plaster) which was the turning point. He gave me a kiss and a cuddle and said goodbye and went off playing!
I went home and threw up my breakfast and spent the rest of the morning trying to eat and throwing it up and giving up and not getting any work done at all :( Ah well.
When Ben came home he told me all about his morning. He brought home some paintings he'd done last week (they were mainly red, which is puzzling because last week he came home with green paint in his hair), and told me who he'd been playing with and what he'd done, and then we realised we'd left his bag at school so we had to go back and get it.
Got home and threw my sandwich up. Joy. Sorted out Ben with food while he told me what they'd eaten at school at snacktime (toast and apple, which was correct according to the notice on the door!), let him play his drums for a long while, gave up on the day eventually and went to bed for a nap with Ben.
Turned into a fantastic 3 hour chunk of the day that we got rid of :) And I woke up needing cake. So we ate lots of cake and donuts. And eventually Steve came home and went back out to get chips and then we tidied up and now he's got his PA guys round for the evening. I don't know what they're talking about specifically, I hope it's a productive evening. (And I hope Steve has told them how honoured they are to have had the kitchen table tidied and cleaned.)
You know when you look around hoping for some visual reminder of what you've done over the day? I've just looked around and it took several looks before the pile of sofa cushions actually registered.
We've just dumped one of the sofas in the front garden :) Classy, hey. It was £50 when we got it last year, it was one of these "it'll do while we move in and get sorted" kinda things. It's outlived its usefulness now that it's doing Steve's back in and making me feel sick when I sit on it. (I say "we" dumped it outside, Steve got one of the PA guys to help him!)
Now Ben and I are going to bed... and I hope Ben is ready for bed because I am REALLY ready for bed...
