oh, I think I have found out what is wrong with my ammeter... it has a little 8 pin chip on it and I found out its a 5V regulator... except it's not giving out 5v anymore, so I put my bench power supply on 5V and poked it (very technical terms here ;) ) it came on! yay!... they sell them at Farnell for about £3, the problem I have is soldering the darn thing on the board, it's a surface mounting one and is tiny... so if anyone has any advice it'd be gratefully received!
