Another Day at School
I've taught school here for the last 11 years. The building is beautifully sited so that the corner classrooms looked acrossed the White River at the Indianapolis skyline. Over those years invasive Japanese honeysuckle have covered the fence and the view.
There is one benefit to this thicket along the
river. It is a magnificent migrant bird trap. Last week the entire fence was alive with warblers and other migrants. More than one class was interrupted as I spotted another significant bird.
We're moving from this school for extensive renovations all of next year. I'm going to miss my birds and the winter view of the river.
