I've taken to walking around my neighborhood. Although it has been overcast, the weather cooperated today...no real rain, and it was warm for a little bit. There's something intimate about a walk...it's peaceful (unless you're in a city, which I most certainly am not). You see things that you would otherwise never notice, like the effort that your neighbor puts into their beautiful garden or the colors of that cute little house or that lady smoking a cigarette on her doorstep. You miss all of these things driving around in a car. I just feel so much more connected to my place of residence having walked it.
And then you come along little flashes of joy like this. An old grating is brought to life with a couple of flowers.
"This whole city's black and white
Tell me what is your color
Could it be the same as mine
Faded greens and blue street lights
There's a red fire burning from the sea up to the sky"
