Garden Heroes

I love these little Japanese columbines. They look deceptively delicate but spring after spring they come up along with the tulips. Just occasionally they self seed but not often enough to become weeds. They looked especially bright this afternoon contrasted with their companion dandelions. At the risk of being deceptive myself I waited until evening when the dandelion flowers were closed so my gardening inattentions were less obvious.
