More wildlife

Wildlife park today. It looked suspiciously small from the outside, and the entry fee seemed a bit on the pricey side.

Turns out it's more of a rescue centre, and the entry fee supports their efforts.

We got there in time for the interactive show where you can pat a koala, and get up close and personal to some bearded dragons and a fabulous python.

There were two other people there, who chose to leave when the reptiles came out.

The chap draping the python round our necks was very amiable and a mine of information.

Most fascinating facts learnt today:

Landholders like to keep peacocks and guinea fowl on their properties as they will eat venomous snakes. When they nod off at night, out come the pythons to take care of the rodent population.
Perfect pest control :)

One third of Queensland homes (half in Brisbane) have a python living in their roofspace.

I've always wanted a python. Hubbo won't have a bar of it. He quite likes Queensland tho :)...........
