Flea-rence Nightingale

Woke up this morning
With a bit of a bad head
Found my cat with its foot hanging off
And I wished that my cat was dead
I've got the vet bill paying blues
But at least that cat won't need no shoes
Oh yeah, I've got the vet bill blues...

(no panic, I'll be keeping the day job - but listening to Seasick Steve gave me the blues)

The cat obviously didn't move away fast enough when the mower came through last night and she had one of her tootsies mown off. Sadly for the bank balance, this is mendable and not a reason to bump her off cheaply. The children were very tearful so I did my best not to be the horrible, callous old thing that I am. Anyway, she's now back from the vet and being kept in the dog-box that the dog refuses to use. She has to be kept as calm as possible for two weeks. Her version of that was going completely mad and escaping by climbing through a window, hence being locked in a cage. The children were obsessively nursing her and are now banned from going near her with food or water or from opening the cage door. This is Flea with yet another bowl, thankfully empty....

Other than that, I have mainly been asleep today and have yet to eat properly.

To any of you taking part in the end of the world tomorrow, I bid my fond goodbyes, I'll be staying :-)
