UNCAUTIOUS OPTIMISM

Farmer's Market

One of the joys of having Fridays off is being able to visit the Farmer's Market in Copley Square. In between harangues of the impending rapture, I was able to enjoy the sights and smells of early spring produce. Nothing interesting enough to buy (no young garlic for me, thanks...and no city garden to tend to, sadly), but Homer and I strolled the booths and saw several of our favorite vendors...namely, Siena Farms, the folks behind our favorite restaurant, Oleana.

One of the many people on the streets preaching about May 21 told me: "hey, cute dog. Too bad he's going to die tomorrow." Seriously?! So, I took Homer to the closest hot dog stand and bought him a small hot dog, no bun. He may not have understood the comment, but I sure did! Then again, I can always find a reason for an indulgence.
