Wandering roots
'All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.'
- J. R. R. Tolkien
Day off today so managed to squeeze in some time to do a bit of doodling. I've been meaning to create a piece for the Tolkien poem above, in particular to the second line 'Not all those who wander are lost'. I think it's such a powerful excerpt, and the juxtaposition between itself and the 'old' and 'deep roots' show's just how in real life wandering will happen, but it doesn't necessarily mean that we are lost. It can be a part of our growth as an individual.
