Ford

Well, the world didn't end, though round about 3am this morning it sounded as though it might - storm force winds and lashing rain. maybe, as has been suggested, only the good ones have been called, and the naughty lentil-eating majority have to wait until October. (Chickpea eaters worst of the lot, Mollyblogs - definitely a food of the devil!!)

A hilarious evening last night - the usual potluck supper - we ate chilli and rice and tzatziki, and then Sheila arrived with a massive pot of mashed spuds and a bottle of Champagne - worked very well! We played a game called Quest - far too slow and educational so it was abandoned for an uproarious Articulate.

The gales are still blowing but there has been sun!! Himself has covered the fruit cages - just in time as the blackbirds have spotted the blackcurrants. I have been weeding onions and garlic, and clearing paths around the compost bins - most glamorous.

We might go to see 'Hanna' tonight - an early screening so I will be back later. An action cum thriller, set in Finland I think - Hanna has been brought up with no other company thank her father and trained to be a killer - the CIA are involved of course. Will report back.

For the purposes of this blip, I donned my wellies and wandered up to the river at the entrance of the village. I thought there ought to be a torrent after yesterday's rain but not really - a respectable flow. I suspect this is where the original road into the village turned into a ford as it crossed the river (the aha bit in Ahakista meaning ford). Yes, I was in the river and yes I did get wet - trousers, even though rolled up in an attractive fashion; bum and camera bag. Kingfishers are occasionally spotted here and there are fish. It is also rife with Japanese knotweed, not so good.
Clouds rolling back in now :(
