Cringle

The finished cringle in the corner of the Spitfire jib where the sheets attach.
First made a ring by long splicing some 3 strand rope into a small circle, then folded it into a figure of eight and blanket stitched it with twine into the sail with one loop each side.
Made the copper liner from 22mm copper pipe, flared one end and bashed it through the sewn rope ring, then flared the other side to keep it in place.
For a first attempt it don't look too bad though I say it myself......
You can see the ends of the kevlar bolt rope sewn into the leading edge of the sail in this shot, the gov excelled herself on this job.
I have an enquiry for one of these from another owner although the gov ain't keen on the idea.
