Belhaven Bridge revisited revisited...

So, a wee janut down to East Lothian again tonight. With high tide at 7.19pm and the some of the roads shut for the Edinburgh Marathon timing was critical. Luckily, I got down to Longniddry for my first stop just after the roads reopened. Took about 100 shots on the rocks with the waves, very big waves, crashing over them. First real attempt at this stuff and while the shots were ok but nothing to write home about. Wind was horrific too, no hope of long exposures, about 1s was the most I could handle with the gusts.

Headed down the coast past North Berwick. What a view you get of the Bass Rock near Tantallon Castle, that's one for another night though. Ended up at the Belhaven Bridge around 6.45pm, sadly sun was out but at least the tide was covering the walkway and there was some clouds about. Wind was terrible again, had to dig the tripod into the ground to keep it stable. Pushed the exposures up to a couple of minutes but it was too cold to hang about too long.

Worked with the Nikon 18-70mm tonight, with the addition of the 67-77 stepup ring I can use this with the 10 stopper now which means it was perfect for down here where that little extra reach over the 10-20mm pays dividends. Happier with this than any of my previous efforts though, still reckon I've not got the optimal conditions to play with yet so will no doubt revisit... again...
