Formal Attire Not Required

Yes, this lovely Rose-Breasted Grosbeak appeared just yesterday for the first time at the feeder attached to the window. This morning, he was sitting upon the top of the feeder, looking in the window. In looking at the feeder, it was empty,so I refilled it. Smart little bird!

This fellow is an immature bird, as the striping on his head will turn solid black as he ages. These birds are amongst the showiest here in the Bristolwood, and are amongst my favorites. Their song is so melodic and cheerful!

As an aside, this clever little fellow may be the son or even nephew of one "really" smart bird! Last year, a mature male would not only look inside the window, but he also would tap on the glass to let me know the feeder was empty!
