Diva Day
Today was The Day of the Diva. As the weather was cold, wet and miserable, I brightened it up, with a marathon day of listening to some great woman pop singers.
First up , Dionne Warwick, check out that cheesy website. Her partnership with Burt Bacharach produced some of the great sixties hits. Too many to list, but all fab.
Next up, Nina Simone, what can you say. A classic diva. She had to be call Miss Simone at all times, she was eccentric but she was brilliant. Listen to Mississippi Goddam - a bouncy upbeat tune telling of terrible times, written by herself
Amy Winehouse. Who cares about her private life, she's gonna be right up there with greats.
But, the best of all, and the one Ms Winehouse and her production people try to emulate, the late, great Dusty Springfield..
If you want to hear the best female pop singer of all time just sit down and cruise to Dusty in Memphis. .
It doesn't get any better than that.
That all folks. I'm of to recharge the ipod - it's still raining....
...and the pic, a nice piece of rusty just for Dusty.
