Mama's a Cry Baby
This is Crystal whom I nick named "Mama". I think because I take her milk. Here she looks much brighter then the first blip I took of her. She's bonded tightly with me. So tightly she cries at 6AM if I haven't come to feed. Then once fed she cries at the gate as if I am to stay with her. She easily follows to the garage and jumps on the milk stand to do her duty.
Throughout the day she cries when she see's me walk past the window. If I go sit in their pen she stays close and gobbles food.
Today I had to take one of our Barred Rock hens out of the chicken pen and put her in with the goats. The other Hens have attacked her and put a nice hole in the top of her head. The goats don't mind and she is much calmer now. They even let her lay in the house when the rain was pouring down.
Somehow I've become a mini farmer. Went from California girl to Farm Girl. I was counting last night and we have 3 dogs, 1 fat cat, 8 Hens, 2 Koi Fish, 5 Gold Fish, 2 goats (1 more coming this weekend) and I agreed to take my neighbor's Rooster. That's not counting the 2 vegetable/Fruit gardens and 2 1/2 acres that need tending.
I moved here 11 years ago with 2 horses, a dog and 1 kid. I now have 2 kids, My Dad and no horses but a whole lot more to do.
Someone on Freecycle gave me some oils so next up, Homemade Goat Milk Soap.
