coomassie stained protein

Such a normal sight in many biological research labs but I thought it might be of interest.

This is a gel in which proteins have been seperated based on their migration through a gel under an electrical charge.

In this case proteins were extracted from something like this and visualised by staining with a dye (coomassie blue).

Each horizontal band on the gel represents one individual protein.

The 2 columns with most bands, represents all the proteins fromthis.

Without wanting to patronise any one, proteins are the major building-blocks that make up all biological cells.
