Art Exhibition
Well at the end of our 'art' year we have an exhibition that is open to parents, friends and the general public.
This is our first proper year of it, as being AS students we are allowed to set up our only space, and hang the work ourselves. This was so exciting! We had two days designated to us to allow us to get it up and there was such an atmosphere..
So here is mine..
The bed features a homemade quilt and cushion that I sowed myself, they are my own response to Tracey Emin's work. Each part of the quilt resembles a memories of my childhood.
The two canvas's behind are my exam work which was titled 'mirrors'. As I have a passion for the beach and coastal landscapes I wanted to encorporate this into my work somehow. So my instant reaction was 'reflections in water'.
The top, 'The Needles', is a response to Stephen Lee's work. He is a local artist, who lives in Dorset. He uses pallette knifes to paint local scenes so I used the same medium with mine.
The one before is a painting in acyrlic from my own photograph taken on a sailing trip round the Isle of Wight last summer.
The photographs on the window are photos I took at Littlehampton beach, and Bosham Harbour. I took a mirror and reflected the landscapes. This created very interesting photos, I will try and get one for a blip in the future :)
On the right are more studies linked to my exam 'mirror' work. The top is painted using pallette knifes to create a messy splatter of oranges and blacks. The bottom is a lot 'cleaner', done in charcoal and chalk.
Overall tonight was a success and I recieved many compliments from my work.
I have also had a biology exam, driving lesson and I'm in the middle of collecting money from my fellow students for the end of year prom.
Life is busy right now..
Tomorrow I have a job interview at the local hilton hotel, before going into school for the last day of prom money collection and an english lesson, then out to lunch with the famalam for a much needed break.
I have decided I write too muchon these descriptions..
See you tomorrow <3
