In The Wake of O'Bama

Myself and my cousin Slant headed into Dublin in the aftermath of the O'Bama visit (we couldn't get in earlier). When we saw the little groups of quiet, blissed-out faces wandering quietly towards us we figured we wouldn't get anything. Then we noticed the flags; at first just the odd one, then, entering Dame Street, the heaps, long-acres of litter: flags, food (LOTS of food), lighters, brollies... well, see for yourself. As if a multitude had been turned upside down and given a thorough shaking, which perhaps they had. A pain in the arse for the road sweepers with their whirring machines and proper shovels, but something of a windfall or an odd kind of minor miracle for photographers like us, who like nothing better than to let our lenses lie in the gutter looking at same. Then there were flowers, a red rose for each woman police officer and a bunch that had been given to the woman in the photo (not sure how or why).
