Hoopoe the Clown

Here's the story of this blip (bear with me):

The program which my friend David Spector and I are planning to present next month at our bird club, entitled Words and Birds will include a couple of my images of hoopoes, a bird from Europe with a striking crown.

So we decided, in the tongue-in-cheek spirit of the show, to also include a photo of another friend, Chris; he's not only an expert birder, but he also performs as a mime and entertainer--Hoopoe the Clown is one of his personas. Today I went out for the photo shoot--and despite the warmth of the day Chris donned his full outfit (its black and white echoes the plumage of the hoopoe itself--it happens to be Israel's national bird).
