Tiramisu martini = one of the best drinks I've ever had.
Somewhat depressing day ending on a high note after an hour or so in Barnes and Noble reading and looking at books with a couple good friends. I read a kid's book to Tim, and he had me read The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein in a different light. I remember this book as a kid, and it was a classic story, right? How about reading it as an abusive relationship between the boy and the tree? The tree gives and gives and gives until there's nothing left except a stump and then the boy comes back as a man and he sits on her. Definitely upsetting to see it this way but perhaps the story is hopeful, and more of a commentary on love and forgiveness. As Scott says, "There are lots of people in the world that will just keep taking from you. You have to learn to forgive, otherwise you're going to be carrying around all this baggage, and it'll weigh you down." And on me asking why this book was amongst the books "for grads", he says, "Because you give the university all of your money, and they take and take and take." ;) I've got some good friends. I'm a lucky girl.
