Reflections Swan Valley
Today's picture is not a fantastic creative shot combining clever composition with exciting minimalist blocks of solid colour. I took those pictures later but I chose this one for it's honesty. A reflection in a pool...It is nature's Photoshop! It is nature's Monet? Stare at it a moment and see. The larger original file is amazing. It is not some shaky trick on a long exposure. To say it is "as shot" would be untruthful as it was shot in RAW format and needed a slight touch to lift it a little. It was shot with an older manual Nikkor 28mm lens on a Nikon D300 DSLR (note the old lens flare), but also take note of the grass on the bank in the bottom RH corner..not shaky or "Photoshopped"!. It is very close to what maybe nature intended me to see. A tiny pool off a small brook with a flash of light touching it. Nothing sensational - except that nature is always sensational.
The location is in the Swan Valley north East of Perth Western Australia. The adjacent stream flows into the Swan River which has particular significance to the aboriginal peoples who inhabited this area long before my recent ancestors. It spills into the Indian Ocean at Fremantle - where I now live.
