Mythical Grímsvötn Ashcloud Sutherland

Dawn on Tuesday May 24th, volcanic dust from the Icelandic volcano Grímsvötn falls in Durness, Sutherland.

Commercial airline director Michael O'Leary denied the existence of the ashcloud, describing it as "mythical', and expressed outrage that flights from his cut-price airline Ryanair and other United Kingdom carriers were temporarily suspended by the British Airport Authorities.

The closure of the airspace over Scotland costs Ryanair an estimated £2 Million per day. Mr O'Leary rubbished claims that he was more interested in putting profit above passenger safety.
