Aching Hunger

Slow lazy day today after a manic week or so.

Very wet in South Wales.

The garden is mobbed with birds again this morning. At one point there were nineteen Starlings feeding their fledglings from the fat cake I put up yesterday. I've already blipped the House Sparrows being fed as part of this Musical May Challenge. It's great to see the garden so alive again after a few weeks where the birds were all on the nest.

Starlings have been struggling in recent years, so hopefully these healthy looking fledglings can help boost the UK population a bit. Some people think they are a pest, taking food from the more attractive birds, such as Blue Tit and Robin, but they deserve their place at the feeding station as much as anyone else. And if you set out a couple of places in the garden, they can't annex them all.
