my shop floor

This is the totally gorgeous floor of the knitware shop i work in. It was laid in the 1920's by an Italian artist, when the shop was Orkney's first (and only) soda fountain shop. This was a trend back then it seems, and it sold ice cream, sweets, jewellery and soda from it's 'soda fountain'. The shop fell into disrepair around 1950, and lay shut up until my boss bought it and converted it about 8 years ago - can you believe the builders restoring it wanted to rip the floor up and tile over it...?!
