Tsunami Bay, Constitution, Chile
This is one year after the Chile Earthquake, close to the epicentre, and one of the most harrowing places I have ever visited.
The wave that came over this beach was 18 metres high and has wiped out the entire beach front. Debris is still washing up, hence the table washed up. The black volcanic sand made it even more eerie.
Spoke to a man who owned a restaurant opposite, who said his 2 sisters were working on a food stall on the beach and were taken by the wave, never to be seen again. He has rebuilt his restaurant but it just struck me that he would be looking out on that view every day, with all those thoughts in mind.
