Our special irises
This iris is one of a few that originally grew in my parents' garden in Sunderland. We have always liked them, but they became "special" because one year they opened their first flowers on the day I qualified as a doctor. Since then they have moved with my Mum when she came to live in Northumberland, and survived their first few months in pots while we lived in rented accommodation.
I'm delighted that they bloom well in our garden in Humshaugh, and this one even survived being run over by a car in the middle of the border last year. Sorry to remind you of that, J (who is a silent watcher of, and enthusiast for, Blip)
So here is one of the blooms today, after heavy rain. The perfume is very beautiful as befits such a stunning flower.
