Marching

Funny how things link - Monday I was at the debate on the issues around sectarianism and today I was in Glasgow for the Venture Scotland 'catch up' training on prejudice, stereotyping and discrimination. When I came out this march was just about to go down the High Street. It was remembering the NI Hunger Strikers. Google tells me it's the 30th anniversary but the march happens every year. I had never heard of it before - an east coast thing. The lady I was speaking to said today's march had the most people she's ever seen at it and that it was well behaved, better than the Orange marches which take place on the same route. We both agreed it was unlikely the young people on the march knew much about the history of NI or the hunger strikers. The bands were good!

The route to Queen Street took in the Tesco Scottish food fair in George Square. Lots of free samples (in fact that was lunch). I favoured the North of Scotland marquee (so windy they were almost blowing away) Stockans oatcakes, tablet, Mackies chocolate ice-cream, Dean's shortbread (entered the FB comp, watch this space) and the new oatcake range made with Ola Oil and Alford oatmeal from JG Ross - frae Inverurie! Keep thinking of that line that was always in George's song in the Inverurie pantomime - ' and a George Ross pie'! Hope Tesco stock the oatcakes made with chilli infused Ola oil.

#3 son and F returned s & s from the NE. Waiting for them to wake up so we can go out and eat.
