URANGAN PIER
Day 26
We are back at Dicky's Beach for our last Queensland night in the Camper. We fly out of Brisbane on Wednesday morning for 10 days in Melbourne with family.
Todays blip was taken in Hervey Bay this morning during our morning walk, prior to setting off in the camper.
Urangan Pier at the Urangan Beach was built in 1917 to export coal, sugar and timber. The last exports were the 1980's. The Pier has been leased from the Government by the local council in order to preserve its heritage qualities.
The Pier is 868 Metres in length built of Australian hardwood, much of it being original, and in great condition.
As you can see it is popular with local fishermen who were catching herings, bonito, mackerel and brim.
