Wildlife
This wild flower kind of sums up recent events as we inadvertantly brought some wildlife back home with us. I found two ticks on my dog and before I knew it my kitchen table had turned into a vets operating table!
It was a joint effort to remove the stubborn little critters. The trouble nowadays with the internet is that there is so much advice on everything, you have to search for how to do a particular task several times to get the right advice. For those that haven't had this pleasure yet, tweezers right at the head (so not to burst the body) then pulling slowly out without twisting and turning does the job. You then need to put alcohol on the small open wound. Some sites say spray the alcohol onto the tick or rub in a circular motion around it (to stun/make it dizzy) in order to retract its teeth first. The problem with this method is that it can prompt saliva/disease to enter the dogs blood stream. So there you have it, vet Rita's advice! In case your wondering, we'll be phoning the vet tommorow in case they still want to look and because it was our first time.
