Torn Apart

Everything has a heart
whether it is living or not
it has a core, or a center
a focal middle spot

For a tennis ball
it is beneath the rubber
because the rubber is just protection
for a heart trapped in a chamber

For this, the heart has been torn apart
leaving only the rubber and skin
It won't last very long in a cruel world
with nothing to run things within

I wonder what this might have done
to deserve such a cruel punishment
as to rip out a soul and a heart
and I realized something brilliant

Life is cruel, no matter how you see it
and in any ways you turn
It has it's times when it can be fulfilling
but Life's to short to feel concern.
