Mount Hill, Fife

An evening walk up to the Hopetoun Monument - peeking out of the trees left of centre. This column was built in 1824 in memory Sir John Hope, the 4th Earl of Hopetoun. Close up it's a bit bland I think - it reminds me very much of a factory chimney - but it's a good focal point for a fine stroll, and when you're standing under it, it's towering height (95ft) is impressive.

Once again J chose today's photo - I was stuck between two. He liked this one because it had the monument in it and so you could see where we went to tonight.
