An icon?

Having received the last Rebus novel, (Exit Music) as a Christmas present it gave me the urge to re read the whole series again.

Having lived and worked in Edinburgh it is great to revisit the sights, sounds and smells of the city that are not just the shortbread and bag-pipe images that the rest of the world seems to have of the place.

It got me thinking as to one one image sums up Newcastle? Is it the Castle, or the Millennium Bridge, the football (allegedly) team or indeed Grey's Monument.

Well for me there is really only one contender, the Tyne Bridge. When returning to the city from either direction it still dominates the sky line and it announces, "you're home."
