...and to this day, the ghost of polly-jane, the baby receptionist, can still be seen manning the lines of old edinburgh's telephone exchange in the cellar in victoria street. babies around the world pay homage on the 1st of june each year, to the 'no bones for phones' campaign which helped to end this horrible abuse in 1891.
