Mazet and bent tree

It stopped raining this morning and was sunny for a while, so we took the chance to go up to Roquessels to buy wine from our favourite domain for red wine, Domaine d'Estève, and to enjoy the scenery. The vines are such a bright green at this time of year, I nearly blipped them (and there are some in the background here) but in the end chose this mazet with its almond tree. The vineyards are dotted with these old stone buildings which were used as tool stores and mid-day shelters by the vine workers before the days of the white van. For some reason, this mazet at a junction of two little-used roads always makes me think of Waiting for Godot... it seems to be waiting for something that's not going to happen.

When we got back to the village we saw a friend in the place who asked us if we'd like to pick cherries from the tree in their garden, so we did and came home with a kilo of really delicious fruit. Straight away I made a big clafoutis to put in the freezer for when we have guests in the summer and a smaller one for us to eat tonight. And there are still plenty to eat as they are!
