The Spiral

The spiral is a mysterious and creative motif occurring extensively in nature. Man imitates this form and has done so since ancient times. For some reason it has a simple and beautiful but esoteric appeal. This staircase is in the Queen's House in Greenwich. It draws you upward to a clear blue sky glimpsed through a glass dome, although inevitably the way is barred by a red rope and a no entry sign as you climb halfway up.
