It's all about the wall today....

....which is why this is such a useless shot of Chloe. We went to visit Joan and Tom for an excellent walk along a part of Hadrian's wall. This was my favourite bit with some substantial remains of what was once a Roman bridge. If you look at the top of the picture you can see the bank on the other side of the river Irthing. The bridge had to have a large span and steep gradient. Very impressive! There is now a very elegant modern bridge with brown metal which matches the colour of the water in the river. I was hoping for a picture of Chloe coming down its steps which were shining in the sun...but she wasn't too sure so I have a picture of the bridge, but no Chloe. Maybe next time I'm in the area she will oblige.
