Black hairstreak

Two friends, P and J, both keen on spotting birds and butterflies, call with the exciting news that there are black hairstreaks in a nearby wood and would I like to go and see them. Well, they are among the top five most rare butterflies in the UK so it was an offer I couldn't refuse. They were pretty obliging to budding nature photographers like me and didn't fly off when confronted with a camera. We followed our 'safari' with a pub lunch and a cool beer as the temperature here is rising. I think I really can get used to life after work if I have a few more days like this one.
