Bloodhound supersonic car

Took the kids to Bristol today to attend a supporters' club event for the BloodhoundSSC project.

The team will attempt to break the world land speed record with this car - the target speed is 1,000 miles per hour. Amazing stuff. The car is powered by a Eurofighter plane's jet engine and a rocket. It uses a F1 car's engine merely to pump the fuel to the rocket.

We met Andy Green as well - he currently holds the record (when he broke through the sound barrier at 763mph in 1997 with ThrustSSC). He will drive the new car in 2013. Nice guy, as are the rest of the team. A good day, and the kids had great fun in the simulator. Recommended!
