Singing in my Chains

Gargoyles

This is Insole Court, a mid-Victorian house built on profits from the Cymmer coalfields. I can't find much on the family prior to them becoming filthy rich & would be interested to know if they hailed from the valley that made them so wealthy.
The building is now owned by the council & is a bit tatty; although the tattiness adds to the charm in places. I like the way this gargoyle (a Victorian appropriation of a medieval architectural style) looks like it's wearing a back-to-front baseball cap. Word.
