Chris flew to Munich this morning for an exhibition that he is part of. We walked him up to get the airport bus and as we said our goodbyes Rudy said that he could feel himself with a cry inside.
So.
A day of fun and distraction and hanging out with my sister and her boy, Finlay. We hit the Meadows fair and in a time honoured fashion it was a concoction of: lovely vintage clothes stalls, dog agility demonstrations, coffee stalls, freezing biting winds, ice cream, more lovely clothes stalls, slightly less lovely stalls selling 'stuff', mouth organ band, police information stall, kicking balls into big inflatable goalposts, ice cream (yes, more), crying, drumming, rolling on ground, and finally, overpriced chips. All washed down with a layer of tiger face that slowly slowly slid its way onto my jacket at about hmmm the height of a taller than average four year old.
We had great fun.
On the way home we walked past the Museum. Chris had already explained to Rudy that the main section of the museum, which has been closed for what feels like forever, is to reopen on his (Chris's) birthday. Rudy had taken this to mean that the museum was opening for Chris's birthday.... so, after explaining for quite some time that, no, this wasn't the case (including a lengthy definition as to the meaning of 'coincidence') Rudy asked me if they would be having balloons. For daddy's birthday. I said yes.
