Still haven't found what we're looking for
We decided to try to go to Blakeney Point in the Wash to see the seals and seabirds. Arriving at Blakeney Quay, we discovered that the tides meant that the boat trips didn't leave until 6pm - far too late for us!
So, after indulging in a wonderful pub lunch, we set off on a walk to see if we could walk to Blakeney Point. We checked out the map in the car park and reckoned that, even with the winding path around the marshes, we could walk to the NT Information centre and Old Lifeboat Station. I don't recommend this course of action to anyone!
We walked, and we walked and we walked some more. In fact we walked for almost two hours before we reached a map which showed more detail - it seemed we needed to walk as far again inland before we could cross the marsh and even make it as far as the beach. After that it was another three miles to get to the Old Lifeboat station. With a 6-year-old and an (only just) 4-year-old in tow, we decided to head back to Blakeney for ice-cream.
Post-walk research suggests that we should probably have started at Morston Quay, but I think we'll just get a boat next time.
